INTRODUCTION
1-1. THE STE100 OPERATING MODE
Before you start setting up your STE100 for the rst time, be sure you know what you actually want to do with it.
The STE100 offers one operating mode, which results in a versatile video production tool for live event staging
and xed installation applications.
* NOTE *: We recommend resetting the device to its default values every time you set up your shows or events
(see the “Operating The STE100” chapter, p23).
1-2. USEFUL TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
LAYER: a “Layer” is an image display element (such as a Key) that has an associated visual priority — either
in front of background Live.
The STE100 can simultaneously view no less than 2 layers (1 background Live and 1 layer like a key or 2 PIP
on a background color).
KEYING: a “Key” is an electronic process whereby an image is electronically superimposed over another
source or background, by cutting out either a color (Chroma Key), or its brightness or luminance levels (Luma
Key). Keys are typically used for titles, logos and special effects. STE100 allows to use a live source with
green or blue background and to key it over any other live input.
This mode allows for a single STE100 to seamlessly switch and blend any of its 10 analog/digital inputs with
any other of the inputs. The Edge Blending Mode is the STE100 native mode, and has no less than 2 layers.
